Looe Key Reef - Dive LOG

The day arose and so did spring break. I was so excited I packed my gear like almost a week ahead . Finally the day came on Friday the 16th i awoke early at 7 am grabbed a nice filling breakfast ,packed the car with the gear, pilled in the car and headed off to Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys.

Our travel to the dive shop was easily amazing as I passed over the 7 Mile bridge with that beautiful Caribbean blue water and great visibility i can see just by looking at the ocean i knew it was gonna be a good dive. And before long we arrived at the dive shop a smile went on my face , this was it. My dad and I unpacked our car and grabbed our gear , signed those liability waviers and got signed in as we had a reservation for our dive as usual. We then carried our stuff on our dive boat of the day , the "Kokomo Cat II" and settled in and grabbed our seats , setup our B.C.D , first stage , and etc on our first tank and first dive . We were soon off and out on the ocean in no time . As we were on our way to the first dive site it hit me on how awesome all of this is , my first dive in actual clear blue water! I was psyched ! Chillin to Florida Key`s "Pirate Radio" on the way out to the dive site was great with some nice classic rock songs to get me pumped for our dives.

Shortly after 20 minutes we reached the first dive site and soon embarked upon our first dive of the day. Unfortantly we learned that the seas were pretty rough and were sloshing us around pretty good about 5-7ft seas. We figured well lets get underwater asap , it will defiantly be better down their. The blue water was so enticing as i geared up and put my fins and looked out onto the horizon and plunged in with a nice giant stride entery. We were finally in !

What i see in the first seconds was truly amazing , so much life in one spot , my mouth dropped. I was struck with beauty indeed and it was amazing. I quickly turned the GoPro on and starting recording video , quickly finding the most vibrant colors of the ocean with blue parrot fishes going by , Rases , trumphet fishes and much more. But as we all know you have to see it to really appreciate and see the real beauty. I took plenty of video but unfortuantly i cannot let you all see it yet , because i have big surprise waiting for you all! I finally got final cut pro 10 on my Mac Mini and i am currently in the works of editing a stunning marine documentary with the footage i got at here at Looe Key Reef. Besides video i got tons of photos that will give a glimpse into the "still" world of .... Looe Key Reef. I also have nice quick teaser of amazing encounter and shot of Mr.Cuda the barracuda lol . The video below will surely show how amazing my dad and I`s dive. The only disappointment for me was that i got only to-do a 2 tank dive instead of our 3 full tanks due to rough seas and another unfortunate event was that my dad did not dive any other dives besides our first one that day. But it was well worth the trip even for one dad for my father. I will be releasing the documentary video soon and will post here on my blog soon enough! Enjoy my friends and family and keep on chillin!
